on the 4th october 1934 celtic played in a unusual friendly especially for that era,against a south american select side made up by
players from chile and peru.despite missing a penalty celtic won the match 2-1.
charlie tully leads out celtic on may 17th 1952 at celtic park belfast. this was a charity match
won 3-2 by celtic against a team of ex belfast celtic players who played under the name of
newry town for legal reasons as belfast celtic had of course disbanded in 1949
ten years however they won everything else in scotland that season,pictured
above are jock stein and billy mcneill with the drybrough cup,the scottish cup and
the scottish league cup,won by beating the huns,airdrie,and hibs respectively.
